Data Base
Sarah Foulquier & Sylvain Daval

Sylvain Daval and Sarah Foulquier are taking part in an ongoing residency at the STAG. During their residency they will be focusing on our library to develop a new initiative called DATA_BASE. In their own words…
Exchanging documents like books or music between friends is a common thing. The goal of the DATA-BASE project is to develop this practice into a network of individual micro-libraries accessible to everyone.
Our interest is to create a direct system of affinities and individual reflections through a horizontal exchange of documents. The borrowers are in contact with another reader of the same book or interested in the same subject, in an experience-based relation (choice/reading of the document) instead of an institutional validation.
DATA-BASE will be on one hand a simple software tool with a tutorial that gives the possibility to everyone to create his own library, and a website on the other hand that gives a free access on a list of all the documents already classified and a centralization of all the different individual libraries created that will be able to connect and exchange their collection. In general this common platform functions as the central point of exchange and information.
Assumed as an autonomous and virtual structure, we would like to create a system adaptable to each person or group that will let the possibility to organize a specific concrete system as wished.
DATA-BASE is a project open to everyone as it is dependent to everyone participation.
