The Month in Review pt.1: The STAG in the Tin Can at Toque!

The STAG’s first residency was a huge success. The guts of the STAG were displaced and replaced within the cozy (though freezing) confines of the Tin Can Studios. In what was dubiously called an “Art world Turducken”, Sylvain Daval and Sarah Foulquier began their residency in the STAG while the STAG did a residency inside the Tin Can, while the Tin Can was participating in Toque, an arts and crafts fair at the Western Front. S&S curated a selection of books, magazines and music from the STAG library and introduced people to their Data_Base project. The STAG and the Tin Can offered some Crafts for sale. In the theme of this year’s Toque there was also a crate of free printed matter left over from the Free Art! show. Selections from the STAG’s permanent collection were hung in a gallery space by the door. Oh, and we were broadcasting live over pirate radio from the Tin Can right into the main hall of the Western Front and anywhere else in about a 5 block radius.
Needless to say it was fun. A huge amount of thanks goes to Brody Kitchen and Caroline Balhorne for giving us the opportunity to do the event with them, to the Western Front for hosting us (and Jesse for kicking it in the fridge with us), and to Sylvain and Sarah for their work and for being there the whole time right up to the end.
